My primary business goal is a simple one: to be the trusted financial advisor for my clients. I'd love to show you how I can be your valued advisor too!
I am highly experienced and have outstanding industry credentials. Additionally, I am backed by the exceptional resources of an industry-leading company. The combination of these factors have allowed me to develop a high level of planning and product expertise. As a result, I am optimally positioned to help you reach your financial objectives by offering fitting advice and recommending effective strategies.
Core Values
First, I will strive to maintain our focus on the factors we can control. Earlier in life, I often tried to control things I couldn't. Over time, I realized the folly of this approach and gradually came to embrace the wisdom embodied in the “Serenity Prayer”: “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” I will empower you to apply these principles and help hold you accountable to do so. Exerting pressure on the factors we can control, using rational and prudent techniques, is the only reliable way that we can affect outcomes.
Secondly, I truly believe that most people have integrity. That is, they really want to do what's right: right for themselves, right for their families, and right for their communities. I think that the knowledge that you have worked to do the right thing is a key to self-fulfillment. I will help you do the right thing by helping you determine where to take action, by helping you prioritize, by filling knowledge gaps, by answering questions, and by providing expertise.
Thirdly, I recognize that loved ones are generally the most important things in life. Family, business associates (esprit de corps) and community clearly provide richness and context to the lives of many. This tenet is centrally considered in all recommendations and planning we do.
Lastly, humor is a great way to alleviate stress. At times, life's curveballs create challenges for us all. Often the planning process uncovers an emotionally charged issue. I strive to always have a smile on my face – and I'll encourage you to too!
Personal Background
I have lived in Richland Center, Wisconsin for over 30 years. My wife, DeAnna Caspers, is an RN and a department manager at our local hospital. We are often busy with family activities involving our 8 children and 18 grandchildren. Twice, we have hosted exchange students for an academic year
I am actively involved in my community, especially in sports. I officiate soccer at the youth, high school and junior-college level. I coach with the local youth soccer club in Richland Center and in regional leagues. I have served, or am serving, as a board member and an officer of several non-profit organizations. And, as time permits, I play basketball recreationally. I also greatly enjoy reading (especially history and science), genealogy and major league baseball.
Career Experience
I joined New York Life in 1995, working from Richland Center. Since then, I have provided insurance and investment services to a very large and varied clientele. Recently, I began offering financial planning and investment advisory services through Eagle Strategies LLC, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of New York Life. I hold office hours and appointments at a location in Platteville as well as in Richland Center.
Prior to 1995, I worked in outside technical sales and service for an agricultural cooperative for 16 years. The final 11 years included sales management and supervisorial responsibilities. I have owned rental real estate since 1981.
I hold a broad scope of financial services industry credentials: licenses, training and awards. In all, they represent many hours of study, rigorous testing, significant expense and sustained production. The knowledge and expertise obtained in the process of earning them permit me to: better understand your current situation and your future goals; offer a wider array of insurance and investment products; perform comprehensive financial planning services, focused on cash-flow, retirement income, business continuation and estate strategies; and, provide investment advisory services and portfolio analysis.
